The history of OptXware Research and Development Ltd. began in 2005 when the National Office of Research and Technology issued a call for projects in the framework of the Operative Program for Economic Competiveness. A particular objective aimed at the creation of spinoff companies in high-tech areas by university academic staff enjoying the support of their host universities.

The successful application of the members of the Fault Tolerant Systems Research Group entitled “MDA based product family and services for dependability assurance and optimization” facilitated the creation of the company.

The initial asset of product prototypes integrating the Intellectual Property acquired from BUTE consists of the following main items:

■ A consolidated, industrial strength version of the model transformation system VIATRA.

■ Several transformation based modeling and analyzing tools for the following purposes:

· Modeling and validation of robust e-business systems harmonized with major business process modeling tools, like IBM WebSphere Business Modeller and TIBCO.

· Temporal and resource usage optimization in workflows described by different BPM tools.

· Model-based dependability consolidation by analyzing high-level, qualitative fault impact and error propagation model helping the assessment of local fault tolerance measures.

· Consistency and completeness analysis of IT infrastructure configurations.

· Proof of correctness of access control systems.
