András Pataricza    Prof. András Pataricza




Prof. András Pataricza is a graduate from the Technical University of Budapest (BUTE) and holds a D.Sc. degree from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Currently he is leader of BUTE’s Research Group for Fault-Tolerant Systems.

Prof. Pataricza has received multiple recognition awards from scientific and industrial organizations like the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, IBM, HP and others. He has acted as technical leader and/or advisor to many international scientific projects and is very active in EU scientific research programs. He has published many technical papers, books, tutorials, magazine articles, conference papers and technical reports.


György Csertán

György Csertán holds an MS in Electrical Engineering and an MS in Business Administration. He received his Ph.D. at the Budapest Technical University in 1998 in Information Technology. He absolved a course on high-tech entrepreneurship with a special emphasis on spin-offs at the University of Berkeley (USA) thanks to a fellowship granted by Intel.


György Csertán has 15 years of experience in model based design and analysis of resilient IT systems. Before joining OptXware he spent several years with University of Veszprém and Budapest University of Technology and Economics as technical manager of various R&D projects. He was the initiator of the Central Transdanubian Research & Development Portal. His professional interest includes dependable systems, e-business systems, and dependability in embedded systems.


He is married has three daughters and a son. His personal interest is photography and hiking and he likes listening classical music.



András Balogh    András Balogh, PhD.
    CTO, Director of Embedded Systems




András Balogh holds an MS in Technical Informatics received from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2004. He was a Ph.D. student at the Fault Tolerant Systems Research Group at BUTE.


His professional interest includes model-driven development of dependable systems and e-business systems, and formal analysis of system models.


He has many years of experience in architectural system design, and in software and transformation development. He holds courses on Eclipse-based development, and UML modeling. He was the chief software architect of the DECOS tool chain and principal investigator in the GENESYS and DECOS projects and numerous industrial projects.

His personal interest is railway-modeling.



László Gönczy    László Gönczy
    Director of IT Systems and Services



László Gönczy received his M.Sc. in Software Engineering from Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2003 and his MS in Engineer-economics from Corvinus University of Budapest in 2006.

His professional interest includes model-driven development of Service-Oriented Architectures and dependability analysis based on high level system models. He was involved in several research and industrial R+D projects and published articles in these fields.

He is married and has two daughters.


Carlos Garcia

Carlos Garcia is an independent consultant with over twenty-five years of experience in application of advanced technologies in industry and academia. He holds a BSEE, an MS in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an MS in Computer Science from the Polytechnic Institute of New York and an MS in Information Systems Engineering from Polytechnic University of New York. He is also a graduate of the IBM Systems Research Institute.

While working for IBM, Mr. Garcia managed strategic investments for the IBM software group in Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Prior to that he was a member of the IBM Consulting group in the US, manager of university programs and member of the advanced technology group in the IBM PC division.


Dániel Varró   Dániel Varró, PhD.
  VP of Research




Dániel Varró holds an MS in Technical Informatics. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the Budapest Technical University in 2004.

He is a distinguished researcher in the field of model driven development, with special focus on model transformations and model analysis by using formal methods. He is the principal investigator of the VIATRA model transformation system. He is regularly running courses on UML modeling and on the foundations of model-driven development. He won the IBM Faculty Award three times.

In his non-professional life, he is a proud father of two boys, and he is a futsal (indoor football) goalkeeper.



István Ráth  István Ráth
  VP of Strategy Development




István Ráth is a PhD graduate at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. His main research interest is model-driven systems development with a special focus on domain-specific languages and model transformations.


He is the chief technological architect of the VIATRA2 model transformation framework (which is part of the Eclipse.org distribution), and a regular contributor of the SENSORIA, MOGENTES, and SecureChange European Union research projects. He won ACM/Springer Best Paper Awards, and he is the winner of the Pro Scientia Award of the Hungarian National Organization for Scientific Students’ Associations. He has been actively involved in several large-scale industrial R&D projects aside from his academic research activities.


He is a skilled educator in general software development, model-driven development and Eclipse technologies, proven in academic as well as industrial courses over the past 4 years.
